4/17/2024 - College Bound Bug… Eventually.

seeing another mother post about her daughter going to college reminded me of a convo Bug (my daughter) and I were having. she said a lot of people were encouraging her to stay close to home when she goes to college… so she’ll be near me. I encourage Bug to go where she wants so that she won’t regret HER choice later. I’ve been telling her since she was in elementary school that I’m staying in this country so she isn’t too far from her father (while she’s a minor). he doesn’t make any effort to see her BUT I wanted to make sure that distance wasn’t a determining factor for them to see each other.

she’s decided that she wants to go to an art college, specifically SCAD - Savannah. this is her#1 choice (feel free to cry for me, Argentina. SCAD is EXPENSIVE) but I challenged her to research more schools that focus on fashion design. there are tons of art colleges and art programs available all over the world! I remind her of this, not to stay close to home. she isn’t obligated to stay close to me, no matter how much I will miss her. I work very hard to have behaviors with Bug that won’t create resentment later… for herself and myself. when they said there’s no manual for this parenting thing, it was 100% true.
