1/31/2024 - Can You See Me?
was chatting with a friend I don’t talk to often, updating them on a few life things. when there was a pause in the convo, they said, “your body has been through a lot the past few years.” it might seem insignificant BUT it wasn’t… to me. me and the friend don’t live close to one another but their acknowledgement let me know that they’ve been paying attention. people SEEING me is sometimes that nudge that helps me get through the rest of the day. yes, I matter to me. full stop. I’m not ashamed to admit that sometimes I need to SEE and HEAR that my existence matters beyond my kid, myself, and people who think they need me. it feels good to know beyond my own thinking that out of the almost 8 billion people on this planet, I matter to people who need nothing from me.
