Is This Thing On?

I can remember when the internet first became available for everyone. There was the usual excitement of being able to use and learn something new. It was amazing how quickly we could get information. Fast forward to today and there’s a constant deluge of so much information that I kind of get happy when there are digital outages. Those moments force us to slow down and shift our thinking towards things we might have otherwise kept putting off because it required more time to do than sending a meme, text, IM, post, or interact with someone without the use of something electronic.

We were given multitudes of ways to communicate with one another but it didn’t necessarily improve the communication. I’d venture to say that we’re actually getting worse at understanding each other because our attention is being pulled in so many different directions. So when I decided to revamp my blog, I decided to limit the amount of distractions. Anyone who took the small effort to type in my website, wants to be here and they don’t want to be distracted.

I don’t want anyone here who skims messages, removes context, comments without reading in full, cannot (or refuses to) see anything outside of themselves. I write for myself first but the type of readers this onion garden exists for are those who enjoy the simplicity of just words. There’s no algorithm here to throw monkey wrenches into what you want to concentrate on. The digital tycoons don’t control this space.; I do. If I begin to write things that don’t resonate with you, that’s fine too. Just as you are welcome to stay and read until your heart’s content, you’re also welcome to leave when you’ve had your fill.

Sometimes the best things in life don’t need to be changed and this type of space is one of those things.

Yes, people are engaging with video more now but the important things to be said don’t need a face attached to every post… what’s being said just needs to be applicable to the audience it’s intended for and that’s what my writing has always been about. It isn’t for everyone because I’m not for everyone.

So if this is your kind of space, have a seat, read some, and think a little (or a lot) because there’s definitely more where this comes from….
