To Be or Not To Be Violent?

As I sit with the knowing of how often we are told to be non-violent towards intentionally violent systems run by intentionally violent people, I think of several things.

  • we admonish one another when our language is too harsh, convincing each other that if we used our words with softer tones, violent maniacs will listen.

  • we delude ourselves into thinking if our appearances are on point and flawless, we will garner the respect, attention, and results we already deserve.

  • we let cretins and Neanderthals tell us WE are the problem and MUST earn our humanity.

  • we have convinced ourselves that the path of passive resistance will win us our rights and freedoms even though the entire history of humankind has REPEATEDLY shown us that NO ONE attained ANY freedoms without force, aggression, and the removal of these damn manners we are determined to hold on to even to our own detriment.

  • we speak of wanting change while remaining fearful of the action it takes to liberate ourselves and enforce the change.

  • we have forgotten that talking at length is for mobilization of action to get AND keep what we need.

I tire of talking to people who will never listen to anyone they consider inferior. Moving the goal post is fun to them because they’re aware we’re too afraid to set the field of constantly moving posts, on fire. I tire of us, THE MAJORITY, forgetting that there’s more oppressed people than there are oppressors. I’m tired of us acting like 98% of the human population is powerless against the 2% that laugh in our faces because of their surpluses of currency.

I have also been thinking about the woman who said if we really want to affect The Powers That Be, fuck up their money. I think about all of the people who definitely agreed with her while not taking into consideration that IF we commit to fucking up financial systems, IT WILL REQUIRE VIOLENCE. I’m not telling anyone to go out and murder folks but I am saying NONE OF THOSE 2% CARE ABOUT KILLING US TO MAINTAIN THEIR POWER AND WEALTH.

Do we really believe that politeness, respectability, and poise is going to vindicate 98% of us?

Why do we think constantly extending grace to this small group of people who don’t give a damn about worldwide poverty, housing, clean air and water, education, livable wages, healthy food, mental health, maternal care, and war is going to be the example that wins them over while they are laughing in our face from the comfort of their yachts, penthouses, and jets? All of these things go through my head whenever I see and hear messages to keep fighting the good fight but we aren’t really fighting anything, are we? Without total disruption and annihilation of violent systems, there will be no universal freedom. The 2% will always rely on our passive resistance because the pinch of trouble it causes doesn’t pack a big enough wallop to force any sustainable change for the 98%.

But sure, good luck with all of this talking.
